A few days ago, we wrote a post about upcoming changes to our legacy lifecycle methods , including gradual migration strategies. In React 16.3.0, we are adding a few new lifecycle methods to assist with that migration. We are also introducing new APIs for long requested features: an official context API, a ref forwarding API, and an ergonomic ref API.

Starting today, all npm users can take advantage of a new install command called npm ci. Brian Vaughn, React JS Core team member, joins us to explain React's async rendering system and new component lifecycle methods launched in React 16.3.
When sound hits an object, it causes small vibrations of the object’s surface. We show how, using only high-speed video of the object, we can extract those minute vibrations and partially recover the sound that produced them, allowing us to turn everyday objects—a glass of water, a potted plant, a box of tissues, or a bag of chips—into visual microphones.
So I made a solar system explorer on CodePen. The coolest thing about it? Not a single line of JavaScript. All CSS. Make sure you view it in Chrome, it won't work on anything else.
